About ME
Ishak Yasin is a Somali filmmaker based in Minneapolis creating intimate, character-driven films rooted in community, and identity.  His work explores cultural differences with intention, inviting audiences into new worlds while offering a perspective that feels both grounded and refreshingly original.
Alongside narrative work, he has collaborated with institutions like the Mayo Clinic and the Minnesota Department of Health to create culturally tailored content for Somali audiences. His documentary The Heard addresses the opioid crisis through a community-centered lens.
He is currently developing new narrative and documentary projects, including A Letter to Our Neighbors, continuing his commitment to telling honest, human stories that are often left unseen.
